If you’ve never experienced the Lipstick genre of play, be prepared for the charismatic surf-style and jangly vintage presentation created for this design. Fat and warm, these will still perk right up for your playing pleasure. Crafted in the Goldilocks winding zone, these lipstick humbuckers deliver for that “just right” feel, power and performance you desire. Lipstick Hummer passive pickups offer the sweet bottom warmth, tight middle and top-side clarity you crave in a tube.

These are moderately hot wound pickups and boast an Alnico 5 bar magnet for rounded and dynamic humbucker performance. The lipstick cover gives you a tube-slick, smooth yet biting visual to complement your playing style while the bar magnet offered in these Lipsticks can help you avoid string-to-string definition loss. Providing strong string response for a variety of playing needs, these humbuckers can give you an even dynamic for sweep picking and are preferred by players who want to help make sure bends and vibratos don’t choke.

Lipstick Hummers offer a unique design and the chance to play a lipstick tube humbucker without having to mod your standard pickup slot. They feature a standard humbucker short-leg mounting style and will not work in a set-up that requires long leg/long tube placement (i.e. Dano/DanElectro types). For best fitment and appearance if using a pickguard, we recommend a specialized guard designed for this pickup style. For use with a pickguard featuring a standard humbucker rout style, you will likely need a “square-corner” rout designed for standard-sized covered humbuckers. The included pickup wire color codes will let you know the hot, ground, and coil split wire colors for these 4-wire pickups. Basic instructions for a sample standard installation are included. Due to the vast and varied nature of possible components and set-up styles, we do not provide specific information or diagrams for installation. You should be able to use the basic information we provide to match up with any diagram or instructions you choose to use.

These humbuckers are 4-wire so you can coil-split as well as add series-parallel or phase reverse functionality for expanded wiring and playing options (instructions not included). If you’d like to update your wiring and have us create a new wiring system for you, check out our Wiring Harnesses.

Installation requires soldering and compatible system. We provide enough pickup lead wire to complete installation wiring in standard usage situations.
