Here’s your chance to completely customize a Pickguard and Custom Wiring Harness to totally upgrade your system using your existing or preferred pickups. If you want or need new pickups, simply add the Dragonfire Pickup(s) you want to your order and we’ll wire everything together for you. We offer a vast array of great performing pickup varieties and options for whatever you play – let us know if you need help finding the perfect match.

We offer this service option to custom wire a new harness along with a custom guard in the color and style of your choice. Simply select the options you want to let us know your preferences and requirements. We’ll wire a custom harness onto the guard you want with your selections, so you’ll get a totally built-to-order custom wired guard and harness ready to connect to pickups.

Be sure to know your set-up and system needs/preferences as we will wire to your specifications and not all options play well together. YOUR CHOICE – Pickguard Color
We have over 70 guard colors and styles to choose from – check them out HERE and we’ll custom cut and wire the guard of your choice with your custom harness selections. These custom guards are designed to fit 6 String Standard US & MIM 2002 & Newer Styles.

YOUR CHOICE – Style Choice
*Choose standard wiring style (soldering required) or select the solderless option upgrade to install your new harness without any soldering by using a specially designed Dragonfire quick-connect system. You must have an existing trem/bridge ground if you select the solderless option.

YOUR CHOICE – Overall Style of Guard
*Your choice of right or left-handed / lefty guard style.
*Note that we only use B style pots with left-handed builds.

YOUR CHOICE – Mounting Style
*For your guard mounting style, choose the option that will work best for your needs.
--None (Undrilled): No mounting screw holes (undrilled, do-it-yourself) so you can place the mounting holes just where you need them if you’re not sure what pattern you have or if you have something more unusual.
--11-Hole Standard
--11-Hole 62 Pattern
--8-Hole Conversion: Based on the 11-hole standard, this option gives the vintage 8 hole look without needing to drill new holes.
--8-Hole Vintage Pattern
--4 Hole Anchor Pattern: This provides the four most common corner guard mounting holes so, if desired, you can place any additional holes where you want them.
*A reference image is provided to give general locations for these options. Pay close attention to hole patterns/locations and be sure to select the correct guard mounting style for your guitar or select None (Undrilled) so you can place mounting holes as needed.

YOUR CHOICE – Bridge / Trem Cut Options
*Choose from standard or Floyd Rose cut styles or select “None (uncut)” if you do not wish to have a trem space routed.
*Floyd Rose Cut pickguards are designed for a standard Floyd Rose Tremolo rather than a Standard Strat Trem set-up. Guard mounting screw spacing will be adjusted appropriately for this choice as needed. Note that bridge pickup rout placement will also be adjusted (moved forward) accordingly if this option is selected in conjunction with a bridge humbucker pickup selection.

YOUR CHOICE – Neck Cutout Options
*Choose a standard Tele or Strat neck pocket cut with or without a truss rod notch (Elite / Pro-Mod style ONLY – not for vintage or other styles).

YOUR CHOICE – Pickup Rout Choices
*For your bridge, middle and neck positions, choose a standard humbucker, single coil size slot or “None/Uncut” if you don’t want anything routed in that position.
*A rounded corner style of humbucker rout will provide a tighter and cleaner fit for your standard sized humbucker pickups but will not work for active or covered humbucker styles without modification since these pickup styles are slightly larger than standard.
*Please be sure that your body routing will accept the options you select.
*If you need non-standard pickup routing, please check out our Custom Strat Guards HERE. If you add a custom Strat guard to your cart along with this product, we’ll wire your new harness onto the custom guard for you.

YOUR CHOICE – Volume / Tone Pot Style
*Select your preferred pot style for any volume or tone pots you will select in the next option menu. If you are not selecting volume or tone controls, choose “NONE” for these options as needed.
*In general, we recommend B (Linear) Pots for Volume and A (Audio) Pots for Tone as well as 500K Pots for Humbuckers and 250K Pots for Single Coils. If you are coil splitting, we recommend 500K pots. 25K pots are used with active pickups. Depending on style and what you are looking for in terms of performance, you might vary from these standards at your own extreme discretion.
*Note that we do not offer CTS 25K or CTS mini pot styles. CTS pots are available in large/quarter size only.
*In general, control pots come in mini (small/dime-sized, ~16mm diameter) or standard (large/quarter-sized ~24mm diameter) styles with short (~15mm), or long (~18mm) shaft lengths.
*If you have active pickups, please be sure to let us know so we can adjust your harness accordingly.
*The overall options you select will determine final build details. If you want something other than standard, contact us in advance.

YOUR CHOICE – Control Options
*For controls, select the number, style and position of your pots. Be sure you know what pot positions will work with your body routing and check the provided image for location options.
*If you prefer, we can wire your controls loose and ready for you to place exactly where you want them.

YOUR CHOICE – Switch Option
*Your choice of standard or Fender blade or toggle switches. You can elect to not have a switch (if you are going for a one pickup system like a one humbucker), a 3-Way switch, a 5-way switch, or mini switches to control your pickup selection and performance. We offer multiple options so you can customize switching to suit your style.
--NONE: Selecting this option means that we will not wire switching for your new guard. This is an appropriate option only if you don’t want (or need) to switch between pickups.
--3-WAY: In general, select this option if you have a two-pickup system where you want bridge / bridge + neck / neck switching. Note that open and box toggles only work with two pickup set-ups.
--5-WAY: In general, select this option if you have a three-pickup system where you want standard switching with bridge / middle + bridge / middle / middle + neck / neck position selections. Select 5-way switching if you plan to add the 7-way wiring upgrade.
--MINI SWITCH: These toggle switches can perform a variety of switching functions. Note that if you elect to go with mini switching, you must select the appropriate number of mini switches to control the number of pickups you have (i.e. if you have three pickups, you will need three mini switches because each mini switch controls switching for just one pickup). If you select a mini-switch style with coil splitting functionality (i.e. 3-way switch for full/off/split control), you do not need to also add a coil split upgrade.

YOUR CHOICE – Coil Split
*Coil splitting (aka coil tapping) essentially splits a humbucker’s performance to be more like a single coil to increase your playing variation and sound
*Only select this option if you are using four-wire humbucker pickups with your new harness.
--Single coil and active pickups are not coil-splitable.
--If you plan to use your own pickups, you must know your pickup wire color codes for installation.
*Choose from mini-switch or pot-controlled coil split options or select “NONE” if you don’t need or want coil splitting. Selecting a pot-controlled coil split will replace one of your selected pots or add an additional control pot if necessary.
*You do not need to select an additional coil split upgrade if you previously selected a coil split style for your switching selection.

YOUR CHOICE – Wiring Upgrade
*Choose from a variety of wiring upgrade options. Contact us if you have any questions about the options available.
*Note that 7-Way Switching is only applicable to three-pickup builds and you must select a 5-way switching control option.
*Selecting a pot-controlled wiring upgrade will replace one of your selected pots or add an additional control pot if necessary.

YOUR CHOICE – Onboard Effects
*Find details for each type of onboard effect HERE.
*Onboard effects can either replace a tone pot control as selected in your control options or can be added as an additional control to your previously selected control options.
--For example, if you select a 1V1T control option and add a replacement onboard effect, you’ll have one volume control and your effect control (no tone control).
--For example, if you select a 1V1T control option and add an additional/separate onboard effect, you will have the 1V1T controls as selected PLUS the effect control for a three-pot system with one volume control and one tone control as well as one effect control.

YOUR CHOICE – Tone Cap
*Your choice of cap styles and values. Do not select a tone cap if you are not planning to have a tone control or choose to replace your tone control with an onboard effect.
--0.022 are most often paired with 250K pots or single coil pickups.
--0.033 are an option for those who want to split the difference between the 22s and the 47s.
--0.047 are usually used with 500K pots or humbucker pickups.
--0.1 are designed to work with 25K pots and active pickups.

YOUR CHOICE – Wire Style
*Choose from standard or cloth-style wire with your choice of jack wire length. We provide an adequate amount of control wire for standard usage situations. Let us know if your control wire needs are other than standard.

YOUR CHOICE – Jack Choice
*We offer your choice of jack styles. Jacks work with standard cables only and jack sockets accept standard ¼” plugs.
*Active pickups require stereo jacks.

YOUR CHOICE – Knob Style
*Your choice of color and knob styles.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON – Pickguard Mounting Screws
*Select this option to include guard mounting screws.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON – Matching Trem Cover
*Select this option if you would like a matching trem cover (cut from the same material sheet as your guard). This will provide you with the closest possible match to your new guard.
*Your choice of either no mounting holes (undrilled, do-it-yourself), 6 standard or 6 lefty mounting holes. Select no string slot (uncut, do-it-yourself), standard or lefty string slot placement.

YOUR CHOICE – Optional Build Service Add-On
*If you purchase any of our Dragonfire Pickups in the same order, we can wire the pickup(s) you select into your new guard and harness free of charge. Find an ideal pickup or set combination from the wide variety of Dragonfire Pickups we offer. Contact us prior to purchase with any special requests (i.e. more than three pickups, different combinations/effects, etc.).

~~Installation Information~~
If you add Dragonfire Pickups to your order, we will wire your new pickups into your guard/harness. If you are using your own pickups, you’ll be responsible for connecting your pickup wires and will need to know your wire color codes.

Unless you select the solderless wiring option, your order will come with three open wires.
*Red is hot and is soldered to the tip of your jack. If you select a jack, this will be pre-done for you so you’ll unsolder, feed the wires through your channel, and resolder.
*Both blacks are grounds. One is soldered to the jack sleeve and the other is grounded to your trem/bridge.

If your electronics selections require alternate installation, additional instructions will be included with your shipment.

Take your time for installation; do not over-tighten screws or other components. Take care - rough handling may damage components.

Please check your instrument and set-up needs carefully to see if this item will work for you. We know players’ needs are varied and unique. Your selections and any addition of effects or upgrades will determine ultimate layout and functionality and may necessitate, at our discretion, substitution of component styles depending on options chosen. Contact us prior to purchase with any questions or special requests.

Buyers assume all risk of use; sales are only offered to those competent to safely and lawfully purchase and use items.

These guards will not fit anything other than specifically noted compatible models. They will not work with non-standard components or systems. Guards are not guaranteed to fit “Squiers” and will not fit “Deluxe” “Light” any Artist Series or Reissue, or anything else other than “Fender® Standard” model guitars in the years and configuration noted. Non-standard selections may require body modifications. Your selections are your own – we will create your guard to order per your specifications so please know your needs and ask any questions prior to purchase.

Depending on your set-up, you may require adjustment. Ask in advance and we are happy to provide fit/compatibility information or make special arrangements if possible. If you are unsure of your requirements, needs, or ability to make any required adjustments, please reconsider your purchase.

Allow and expect variation in color due to photo and monitor settings as well as natural product variance. Color, sound, performance or other descriptions are subjective as well as generic in nature. Your outcome will vary based on many factors, most importantly your own skill, style, equipment and experience. Color descriptions indicate color only, not material. We do not recommend purchasing if you are looking for a particular outcome or are trying to match an existing color/theme on your guitar.
